SCISYS Deutschland plans the participation in projects to strengthen Australian space industry.
The Bochum-based space company SCISYS recently visited the South Australian Space Industry Centre (SASIC) to get an impression of the Australian space industry and to exchange ideas with potential partners. In July last year, the Australian Space Agency was founded with the task of making the national space industry more competitive. Since then a lot is moving “down under” and the German software experts see exciting opportunities to support space activities in Australia.
On this basis, a return visit has now taken place. Lloyd Damp, CEO of SouthernLaunch.Space Pty Ltd. – Southern Launch for short – a start-up based in Adelaide, Australia, whose aim is to launch rockets into polar orbit, set off for snow-covered Bochum to sign a declaration of intent on future cooperation. SCISYS Deutschland GmbH will support potential projects, some of which have already been defined, with its many years of know-how and software tools.
Strengthening the Australian space industry
Southern Launch aims to participate in SmartSat CRC projects. In the planned Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), a strong team of renowned international companies from industry and science will work together to strengthen and enhance Australia’s space industry in the areas of intelligent satellite systems, advanced communications and earth observation-based data analysis. With their long-standing expertise in the areas of satellite operation and ground segment, the Bochum space experts could make an essential contribution to the success of the programme.
Ulli Leibnitz, director SPACE of SCISYS Deutschland GmbH, on the collaboration: “Space projects and programmes thrive international cooperation. This agreement is the start of a long-term relationship with the broader Australian space ecosystem. Over the coming years, SCISYS and Southern Launch will enhance their collaboration and research & development projects aimed at developing the next generation of trusted artificial intelligence algorithms and advanced mission control centre solutions.”
Lloyd Damp, CEO of Southern Launch, adds: “Teaming with SCISYS Deutschland provides Southern Launch and the wider Australian space and high-tech ecosystem with a strong platform for future technology developments.”
